Our brief was for additional bedroom suites, and a full glazed rear façade to the living room (not even a steel column, please….)
BMA’s design sought to make best use of the sound existing brick structure as part of the new design, but strip back the extensions and build a new rear pavilion celebrating abundant natural light, the elevated setting, and the peaceful view.
Further, we used a new central stair to better connect the house to the site at the rear, in preparation for a future pool. The stair offered opportunities for both play and quiet spaces.
The design also utilised front yard space for additional floor area, with a striking form following the street boundary becoming a new garden bedroom suite and balcony.
